CORTLAND STATE WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
With a roster loaded with Section 3 talent, Cortland State won its first NCAA Division III National Championship in 2015. Among the stars in the 17-6 win over Trinity were West Genesee grads Hannah Elmer and Nicole Bello plus Fayetteville-Manlius grad Marilyn Farrell. Congratulations Red Dragons! Story
2015 College Season Highlights
- Syracuse University won the ACC Tournament in thrilling fashion but settled for second in the 2015 NCAA Division I championship. The Orange settled for runner-up with a 10-8 loss to Maryland. The Terps held the ball for more than 7 minutes to close out the game to deny the Orange any chance at a national title.
- Onondaga Community College comes up short in the NJCAA Championship. Four Lazers named to the All-Tournament Team. Story
- Skaneateles grad Nicole Beatson had eight points in the title game for NJCAA Champion Monroe Community College. Story
- Cortland State junior Ashley Gentile (Baldwinsville) scores nine goals April 14 in a win over the College at Brockport, the most by any Cortland player in 14 years. Story
- Le Moyne College junior Maggie Monnat (Baldwinsville) set a school record for assists in a single season April 8 in a win over Stonehill College. Story
- Cazenovia graduate Katie Kleine (Fredonia) set a school recordfor career draw controls May 2 in SUNYAC Championship against Cortland. She collected three draw controls to become Fredonia's all-time leader in the category with 187. Kleine was named SUNYAC offensive player of the week for April 28. Kleine also leads the SUNYAC in a number of offensive categories.
